Shorinji Kempo, now more than ever, is a martial art to represent Japan. However, among Japan’s many martial arts, the history of Shorinji Kempo is very young – only 60 years have passed since its creation. In this time, over 1,500,000 people have joined. The number of branches within Japan is about 2,950, and it has also spread to 33 countries worldwide.
“The person, the person, the person. Everything depends on the quality of the person.” Our founder, So Doshin, saw that “given that everything is conducted by people, then there is no other way to achieving real peace than to make as many individuals as possible with strong senses of charity, courage, and justice,” and so he created Shorinji Kempo.
PERKEMI (Brotherhood Kempo Indonesia) was officially established on February 2, 1966. Now PERKEMI Kenshi has spawned thousands throughout Indonesia. PERKEMI also a full member of the Federation of the World Kempo or WSKO (World Shorinji Kempo Organization), which is based at the temple in the city of Shorinji Kempo Tadotsu, Japan.
